Recommended start for reading classes:

  • RunNGram the commandline interface for character based ngrams.
  • CategorizerImpl a commandline for language recognition with byte based ngrams.
The source code of both classes can also work as samples how the algorithms can be built into other application. It's not that difficult after all.
